AKaiser is the Pushcart Prize-nominated author of glint, co-winner of the Milk & Cake Prize (2019). AK’s poems and chapbooks have won the Women’s National Book Award Poetry Prize and placed as finalist for the Bridport Prize, the Telluride Institute Fischer Prize as well as others hosted by C&R Press, Comstock Review, Fish Publishing, Poetry International, and Rialto (Nature & Place).

Poems have been anthologized and recent poems, translations, prose and photos can also appear in Amsterdam Quarterly, Circumference, Ginosko, Harvard Review’s Omniglot’s Series, Hyperion, Pen & Brush’s In Print (No5), Mudfish, New Square, POETRY, Poetry International, and the USAGI NY Photo Show and Salon Manifest 2023.

Poem Astronaut, or Blues Singer (glint), has been transformed into song thanks to a co-lab with performer, Mel.lif.lu.ous. Look for it as part of the album, “Spákonufell”, with the song dropping fall 2023. In 2018, AK~ collaborated with musician and singer Emma Zakine on the original composition, A Song for Women, released International Women’s Day.

AKaiser translates from Catalan, French and Spanish and is a 2022 NEA Translation Fellow for her translation of Unnamable by Catalan poet Anna Gual. She was a 2020 Fellow at ATLAS Vice Versa Translation Workshop for work on her translation, with critical commentary, of Nadja (1928), the iconic Surrealist work by André Breton. Also currently translating the work of Mexican poet Javier Acosta Escareño and Mapuche poet and singer Anahi Rayen Mariluan.

In 2023, work has been supported by Millay Arts (NY), NES (Skagaströnd), Write On, Door County (WI), la Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) and International Literary Seminars.

Dr. Kaiser holds a doctorate, under the tutelage of Poet, Translator and Professor Emeritus, Francesc Parcerisas, in Translation & Intercultural Studies from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is researching the biography of Catalan urbanista, US utopian and first Iberian translator of Ruskin, Emerson and Whitman, Cebrià Montoliu. Dr. Kaiser is also translating his urban planning and critical writings, including his city-garden work and his book-length study of Whitman.

AKaiser presents at and curates for conferences, cultural associations, literary festivals and multi-lingual readings. She has been a judge for French Voices and an NEA Expert Reader. She has enjoyed global consulting, management, teaching, liaison and language opportunities with the private sector and UN headquarters in NYC, UNESCO, as well as with other human rights organizations such as IRC and PEN.
